Mission Action Plan

Built in 1971 with a seating capacity of 80, the daughter-church of Saint Paul grew from its two original homes, the first site in the early days of the Parish being at the Church school in Ball Haye Green, moving in 1934 when the new school of Beresford Memorial was built.  It is a multi-purpose building serving both Church and Community on the Eastern extremities of the Parish.  Both the Voluntary Aided school and the Vicarage stand in the same grounds as the church.    The building is used extensively throughout the week by members of the local community for a variety of events.

During the refurbishment of Saint Luke’s, when the building was closed for six months, all worship took place at Saint Paul’s.  Until that point there had only been a small congregation for an early service, together with an equally small number gathering in the evening.  When people moved back into Saint Luke’s, a fresh vision was captured by some for a ‘Church  Plant’.  A small contingent remained at Saint Paul’s in order to develop some regular worship that would appeal to the largely unchurched area in which the building is situated.  Three years on, the congregation has grown from the original half-dozen to a regular fifty adults, plus about fifteen children.  The whole service is planned and run by the lay-team, who also take on other initiatives for the further spiritual development of those they serve.
